WFP’s approach to South-South cooperation in the context of advancing progress towards SDG2
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) supports South-South cooperation to accelerate country-led progress towards the achievement of Zero Hunger by mobilizing and sharing effective, locally tested innovations and solutions that exist in developing countries. More than 60% of WFP's Country offices are currently engaged in South-South cooperation activities in areas such as: (1) Social protection and safety nets (including school meals); (2) Empowering small-holder farmers and connecting them to markets; (3) Nutrition; (4) Vulnerability analysis and food security and nutrition monitoring; (5) Emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction; (6) Resilience and climate adaptation; and (7) Food security analysis.
